Aspire- The Energy Drink that Inspires the Healthy

“Stop drinking so many Monsters!” Yeah. That is a really strange sentence, but it is one that I uttered many times when my now twenty-five daughter was a teenager.  She, in turn, would say, “Why?! I’m drinking it because it tastes good and gives me energy to stay awake.” Really?  Shouldn’t a teenager already be full of energy?! I never really understood why all those energy drinks were so popular- and so expensive!

Flash forward to 2021-

Now I am the one guzzling energy drinks just about every day.  However, I am not throwing back Monsters; my go-to energy drink is Aspire.  Plus, at my age sometimes I do need a little help in the energy department.

Since I am trying to stay healthy at my almost-geriatric age, any product with the word “healthy” on the front of it catches my trifocaled-eye.  I do keep in mind that just because a product claims it is “healthy” does not make it so. After studying the nutrition facts on the can and doing some research, it appears that Aspire is the real deal- it is “Healthy Energy”.  Aspire does not contain any calories, sugar, or carbs. It has a bunch of vitamins like B6, B12, C (you know, all the really good letters), biotin, niacin, and only 55 mg of sodium. Aspire passes my stringent (well, maybe not scientist-level stringent) nutrition test.

A drink being good for you is one thing, but how does it taste?  We all know that some of the healthiest drinks taste awful- anyone for a tall glass of beet juice?  Well, Aspire definitely does not disappoint in the taste department. There are several flavors: raspberry and acai, dark cherry lime, mango lemonade, cranberry, apple and acai- so just about anyone can find a flavor to enjoy.  I haven’t tried them all yet, but I can definitely vouch for the raspberry and acai, mango lemonade, apple and acai, and cranberry. It is a very crisp, refreshing drink with no after taste.

The can even looks pretty and somewhat sophisticated- that fancy A and all those flowers? You don’t even have to be embarrassed while you enjoy the drink.

The label claims Aspire is “Calorie Burning”.  Now, I am not sure if this is true, but I like to think that drinking a can of this yummy, refreshing liquid burns about 1200 calories.  Please don’t burst my bubble!

About Traci

I never would have thought I’d be so happy about being in my 50s. My health has never been better, and my personal and professional life have gone through many changes in the last ten years. I’ve gone from teaching high school English for twenty years to managing the office of a contractor company for a major refinery. Also, my children are now grown and out of the house- I’m a empty nester. I really believe this chapter will be the best yet!
