My triplet grandsons will be born in less than three months. Yes, you read that correctly. Triplet grandsons! Am I the luckiest woman in the world or what? You can’t imagine how much I look forward to holding the boys, smelling their heads, and counting all sixty fingers and toes; however, this time with my daughter Lily during her pregnancy is very special, and I am so honored to be part of it.
Since Lily works with me, I am able to see her and her growing belly every day. I look forward to seeing her adorable baby bump each morning. Lily looks so awesome- honestly, she leaves me in awe. She has three people inside of her! She has me and all the honorary “aunts” in our office keeping an eye on her to make sure she doesn’t stay on her feet too long or lift anything too heavy. I am not sure if she likes that or not, but it makes me feel better. With so many people looking after her, she hopes to be able to work up until the last few weeks before her scheduled delivery. I am proud of what a hard worker she is while she is growing those boys.
Because Lily and I are so close, I am there for her as her mother and her friend. Every day I ask her how she is feeling, if she has any aches or pains, what she ate all day, etc. She is very patient and answers all my questions. Keeping her and the babies healthy is my job as her mother. As her friend, one of my favorite activities has been laughing and joking during her maternity clothing try-on Facetimes. Most often she looks adorable in the clothes; but every once in a while, the clothes just don’t work. Gong! Her belly has grown so quickly that outfits she tries on one week that are way too big for her fit just right a week or two later. I so look forward to those Facetimes. I feel like her girlfriend not just her mother. Our mother-daughter relationship is wonderful, and I know it will just get better when she is a mother herself.
Becoming a grandmother is something I have always looked forward to. I plan on spending tons of time with my trio of grandsons and getting in lots of one-on-one time with each boy as well. Most of all, I hope to spend as much time possible with Lily and her boys all together so I can be a mother, friend, and grandmother all at once. Now, that would really make me the luckiest woman in the world!
